Question:

I'd like to thank you again for coming to our class and sharing your story. There was one question that I wanted to ask during your visit but didn't get a chance, it concerns the map you drew designating the different people within, what did the bridge between the trouble makers and the partiers signify? This might seem like an odd question but did any of your identities conduct relationships with one another?

Angel's response:

Hi Stephanie~

The bridge is actually a symbol of getting out of the abusive situation. It is the parts that bridged life before and to a new way. You will notice that the adults also touch the bridge. There was celebration i.e., the party kids. Because this is also the time when we would have been in detention and learning all about drugs. So there were some who went the party way and others who became adults trying to navigate a new world.

In terms of conducting relationships. It depends on how you define relationship. All areas on the map where parts are touching or overlapping, indicate that there was contact between those parts. Some of it was care taking, others gave voice to some who had no voice. There were working relationships There were always some parts who knew and worked together. There were always some parts who stayed isolated oblivious to the others. As amnesiac barriers dissolved relationships then had an opportunity to build or dissolve.

Man Blessings,
Angel
